The Minister of Sustainability and Environment, Catalina García, stated in the Andalusian Parliament that 170 companies have joined the ‘Natural Park of Andalusia’ brand, which represents «the best of Andalusia, its roots, its people, and its commitment to the future.»
During an oral question in the control session, the minister specified that there are already more than 1,800 Andalusian products and services carrying this label, which also endorses Protected Natural Areas and «reflects the essence of those who live, work, and care for these territories.»
Regarding these products, García explained that they include oils, honeys, wines, cheeses, or cured meats that «compete not only for their taste or quality but also for the values they represent,» all of which have been produced in parks such as Sierra de Grazalema, Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, Los Alcornocales, Sierra María-Los Vélez, or Sierra de Cazorla, Segura, and las Villas.
The Minister of Sustainability and Environment affirmed that «Andalusia preserves and innovates» and that «investing in quality is also investing in sustainability.» Therefore, she emphasized that this emblem «is part of the strategic vision for Andalusia to progress without destruction, generate wealth without depletion, protect biodiversity, and create green jobs.»
These initiatives, she stressed, are part of the sustainability policies of the Andalusian government and also align with the 2030 Agenda, «which aims to advance towards a balanced and fair development model.» Thus, this brand allows companies to «stand out in the most demanding markets, access new opportunities, and commercialize, as well as build consumer trust».
New digital tool
Catalina García announced that a new digital tool has recently been launched through the Environmental Portal of the Junta de Andalucía, facilitating access to all these products and «continuing to showcase a business fabric that exemplifies positive transformation.»
In this regard, she noted that hundreds of companies are benefiting from the digital search engine that includes detailed information about each company, from its location to the products and services it offers, all linked to the values of the territory in which they are produced. «We are talking about goods and experiences that originate from natural parks that are true biodiversity sanctuaries. As we say in our campaign, ‘Choose quality to preserve: Natural Park of Andalusia’,» emphasized the minister.
García urged all consumers to opt for these products «because it is the choice of authenticity, and a conscious consumption that supports those who are transforming the global from the local. Additionally, «they represent a guarantee for the consumer, an Andalusian pride, and a lever for change for Andalusia to be more sustainable, fairer, and more prosperous.»
Finally, she thanked «the enthusiasm and collaboration of the entire sector,» as well as the technicians of the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment, because «they make it possible for this brand to be a consolidated reality today and with great future prospects.»
