The Health and Consumption Councillor of the Andalusian Government, Rocío Hernández, inaugurated the new Las Chapas healthcare center in Marbella, a facility with a total of 12 healthcare consultations that quintuples the size of the previous installations, alongside the Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz; the Government Delegate, Patricia Navarro, and the Territorial Delegate of Health and Consumption, Carlos Bautista. The center, currently serving a population of nearly 8,000 people, is expected to assist more than 12,500 residents of Las Chapas, thereby increasing its care capacity and solidifying its role as a reference center in the area.
During her speech, the Councillor emphasized the transformation that this new facility represents for the residents of Las Chapas, as the previous clinic was located within the town hall and had only three consultations: two for medical purposes and one for nursing. «Children had to be seen in Albarizas because there was no pediatric consultation available,» stated Hernández. Therefore, the new facilities, spanning 527 square meters, are designed to provide comprehensive and quality care. They include a total of 12 healthcare consultations, a health education room, and a specific office for the Health Protection Unit. In detail, the healthcare consultations are distributed among four family medicine consultations, four nursing consultations, one pediatric consultation, one non-deferrable consultation, an extraction room, and a nursing room for common uses.
The Councillor also detailed the human resources that are already operational and those that will be incorporated shortly. «This center opened its doors a few days ago with two medical-nursing teams, a pediatrician, and an administrative assistant,» she reported. Additionally, she announced that «it is planned to incorporate a new family doctor and an occupational therapist after the summer, a service that was not available in Las Chapas before.» This expansion of personnel allows for the introduction of new services, such as the Pediatric Consultation and occupational therapy care, which were previously only available at the Las Albarizas center.
The investment to bring this project to fruition was the result of collaboration between administrations. «The investment for the construction of the clinic, undertaken by the City Council, amounted to 1.2 million euros,» stated Hernández, who expressed her gratitude to the Marbella council during her speech for «the significant commitment to improving the health facilities of its residents, not only in this clinic but also in the Ricardo Soriano, Nueva Andalucía health centers, and the emergency services in Las Albarizas.» On the other hand, the Health and Consumption Department contributed 198,763.72 euros for the comprehensive equipment of the clinic.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, emphasized «the commitment and responsibility of the City Council and the Andalusian Government to carry out essential projects for the municipality, especially in healthcare.» «This Las Chapas center is another example of the loyal cooperation between institutions with the aim of enhancing the quality of life for citizens,» stated the Mayor, who highlighted that «the new equipment will serve over 12,500 users in facilities whose area is five times larger than the previous ones.»
«It is a great satisfaction to meet the demands of our residents and provide modern and quality infrastructure in the healthcare sector,» stated the Mayor, who mentioned that «the center was built on a single floor with the aim of being expandable in the future if necessary based on the ratio.»
