The delegate of the Andalusian Government in Córdoba, Adolfo Molina, announced that the works corresponding to the project of «adaptation of spaces for public use, Phase I, in the Periban de Villares Park», which will have an investment of approximately 600,000 Euros and an execution period of six months, will begin now in February, adding the activity of Phase II, which started in October last year, with a budget of 733,265 euros and an execution period of ten months, meaning both phases will finish in August next year.
This was highlighted by Molina in an interview with Europe Press, specifying that this intervention, «which is done and done by hand with Córdoba,» will allow us to have one of the largest cities with nature there, to be able to enjoy Córdoba, «which» is very important.
The idea is that «phase 1 will start now in February, because we have completed the documentation related to the health and safety plan,» while «phase 2, which has already started in October,» will run for «ten months and would have finished in August of this year.
Overall, this project involves, as emphasized by Molina, «an important action to introduce our city into that surrounding nature,» which «will allow us to enjoy our nature and outdoors and it is lucky that we can do so not just on Saint Raphael’s day.»
The intervention in Los Villares, as explained by the delegate of the Andalusian government in Córdoba, includes «key actions, such as restoring the infrastructure for public use, renewing fences and furniture, installing accessible signs for visually impaired people, repairing sources and fountains that enhance sports facilities, among other initiatives that will strengthen the utility and attraction of the park,» not forgetting the planting of trees.
Therefore, in Phase II, in execution since October and with a temporal development before Phase I, which will now begin, specimens of indigenous species have already been planted to diversify the vegetation by introducing native trees and shrubs, in the most extensive ways. This diversification approach will help improve environmental conditions, attract local fauna, and maintain the fertility and productivity of the ecosystem, ensuring its long-term durability.
The project
Overall, the project involves replacing a total of four kilometers of fencing, from scale to hook and 23 meals of grill furniture, in addition to building approximately 50 meters of concrete slab to be as accessible for people with disabilities.
The main routes signage will also be restored, the sports facilities of basketball and indoor football in the northern area will be developed, and forest treatments will be carried out, along with the planting of 3,000 species of shrubs and tree species.
These actions of Phase II, carried out by the public company Tragsa, will be complemented with the first phase, through which, among other works, the entire Chozo module and toilet module will be renovated.
The villas
The Periban de Villares Park, with its 485 hectares of pines, oaks, and Mediterranean scrubland, is a landmark space for the city of Córdoba that combines leisure and environmental conservation. Its recreational areas, signposted paths, views, and sports areas attract thousands of visitors every year.
It was established as an ideal place to enjoy nature responsibly. Additionally, the park houses the center for non-recoverable species, where specimens of wild animals that cannot be reintroduced into their habitat are taken care of.
Now, with this intervention in Villares, the Andalusian Government «strengthens its commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable use of natural spaces, and improvement of the quality of life of citizens, betting on innovation and sustainability in all its projects.
