Andalucía registered during 2024 the highest volume of public works tender in the last 15 years, totaling 3,875.8 million euros, growing 9.3% compared to the previous year, a level similar to the rest of the country’s average, and recording a year-on-year increase of 69.9% in December. The greatest effort came from the Junta de Andalucía, whose tender throughout the year amounted to 1,381.1 million euros, the highest figure of all administrations, compared to the 1,273.1 million allocated by the local administration or the 1,221.7 million from the Central Administration.

According to the latest data provided by the General Secretariat of Economy of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and European Funds based on the report from the Association of Construction and Infrastructure Concession Companies of Spain (SEOPAN), the growth of public works in the Andalusian community stood out above the average in December.
Thus, the official tender approved by the public administrations in Andalucía amounted to 465.5 million euros in the last month of the year, with a year-on-year increase of 69.9%, well above that recorded in Spain (24.9%). Once again, the increase in tender approved by the Andalusian Government in December stands out, representing 58% of the total tendered in public works and reaching 271.2 million euros, which represents an increase of 143.9% year-on-year.
Following the Junta de Andalucía is the Local Administration, with an increase of 34.7% and a total of 113.8 million euros, and finally, the tender approved by the Central Administration with the most moderate increase (2.8%) and an amount of 80.5 million euros.
Almost 5% more commercial companies
On the other hand, Andalucía closed the year 2024 with a 4.9% increase in commercial companies, «confirming that our community has become a safe haven for economic activity, translating into more job creation and wealth for all Andalusians,» noted the Andalusian Minister of Economy.
Thus, the difference between establishments and closures resulted in a balance of 16,133 effective companies, as reported in the Statistics on Commercial Companies in Andalucía (SOCMER) published by the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalucía.
Specifically, during the year 2024, 20,016 commercial companies were established in Andalucía, a 3.7% increase compared to the previous year, with a subscribed capital exceeding 777 million euros. Additionally, 3,883 companies were closed, a 0.9% decrease compared to 2023.
According to their typology, 99.4% of these new companies were established as limited liability companies. By provinces, Málaga was the Andalusian province where the most companies were established, accounting for 37.5% of the total, followed by Sevilla and Cádiz with 23.2% and 9.4% respectively. Málaga concentrated the highest subscribed capital, at 36.9%.
The statistical report indicates that, based on the sectors of activity carried out by the new companies, Trade and repairs concentrated the highest number of establishments in Andalucía, with 17.8% in 2024. This was followed by Real estate activities and Construction, with 14.2% and 12.7% respectively.
Regarding appointments, 77.0% of companies were founded by a single individual, and 16.9% by two. The Minister of Economy and Finance highlighted the increasing entrepreneurial drive among women. Thus, 23.6% of the total appointments were women, who had a higher relative presence in the areas of Administrative activities and auxiliary services. Of the total new companies, 70.6% were established solely by men and 19.1% solely by women.
Furthermore, during the year 2024, a total of 3,523 commercial companies increased their capital, with a subscribed capital exceeding 1,687.6 million euros. Of the total companies that increased their capital, 90.5% carried out a single increase during the year.
