The Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality has presented at the Caixaforum space in Seville the website www.juntate.es, a new tool that gathers all the resources that the Andalusian Government makes available to the elderly to alleviate and combat unwanted loneliness, as well as updated information on projects developed by various entities in this area in the eight Andalusian provinces.

This digital portal is accompanied by the free phone number 900 100 300, available from June 30th, so that those who are experiencing unwanted loneliness can feel heard, cared for, and guided by a professional team towards the resource that can best help them. This service will be available from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

The Secretary General of Families, Equality, Gender Violence, and Diversity, Concha Cardesa, who participated in the presentation of this tool alongside the Director General of Seniors, Active Participation, and Unwanted Loneliness, Rocío Barragán, emphasized that identifying and combating unwanted loneliness is a «priority» objective of the Andalusian Government, as currently in Andalusia «there are 1.5 million people over 65 years old, and the forecast is that by the year 2050, one in three Andalusians will be over 65».

«Faced with this reality, we have launched the website ‘Júntate’, a tool that showcases all the available resources for the elderly, their families, entities, and professionals, to address unwanted loneliness,» detailed the Secretary General of Families.

On the other hand, Rocío Barragán highlighted that society is «facing a paradigm shift: the population pyramid is inverted, and there are more and more elderly people to attend to.»

In this regard, she noted that this new tool, through which the Junta takes a step further to alleviate the «new pandemic» of unwanted loneliness, is part of the corporate image ‘Júntate’, which, as she explained, «encompasses all the actions of the Andalusian Government aimed at reducing the levels of unwanted loneliness, promoting an active and healthy life, preventing dependency and cognitive decline, and breaking stereotypes» under the motto ‘If you feel lonely, Andalusia is with you’.

Regarding the website ‘Júntate’, she indicated that it is a «participatory, accessible, and intuitive» tool, where the elderly can find information about the resources of the Junta, such as Active Participation Centers (CPA) or the Andalucía 65 Card, as well as the latest news of interest, directories, activities, tips for healthy aging, videos or infographics, among others.

Furthermore, the new digital portal includes guidelines for family members to identify and respond to situations of unwanted loneliness, and a collaborative space aimed at institutions, foundations, and entities, to which the Director General of Seniors expressed gratitude for «their great daily work, essential to reaching all points of Andalusia.»

Finally, Roberto Sánchez, host of the program ‘Health Today’ on Canal Sur Television, and institutional sponsor of the elderly in Andalusia, highlighted the usefulness of this new tool and invited the elderly in the region to «participate in it.» He also emphasized the «mission of support and public service that Canal Sur Radio and Television has been providing to our elders for 37 years.»
