The film library in Andalucía will take another turn on Saturday, April 12 at 8:30 p.m., at the Córdoba headquarters, with the film «Lady Sakura,» directed by Córdoba’s Alex Sereno and Cadiz’s Celia Kiedis, following the «absolute full house» of the audience that made this feature a hit on March 28.
This was highlighted by Alex Sereno, who celebrated the «public success, filling the Val del Omar camera» to enjoy the filmmaker’s second collaboration with the Gaditana Photography director, following their first joint cinematic venture with «Famille Folia.»
Regarding the new film, «Lady Sakura,» and its premiere last March, Serene emphasized that «we knew they were going pretty well, as we were told, but we expected to see the full house and so many people, who were left without tickets,» and that’s why the film library is now taking a different approach.
«Lady Sakura,» starring Flavia Rufffa, Fatima Ortega, Iván Herrera, Marta Nebot, Gonzalo Cortés, José Ruiz, and Chelo Albarrán, was filmed in Córdoba between April and June of 2024, when the team moved to Cádiz to shoot the final scenes and saw the final light of day in March. Andalucía and on the film platform, where it can be viewed nationwide.
It is a film that deviates from the classic structure of the setup, conflict, and resolution, explaining clearly that «we follow the protagonist during a few weeks of their life, where we see them interact with different characters,» defining it as a «collage» where various ideas, forms, and techniques have been mixed.
Therefore, «sometimes drama appears, sometimes comedy appears, characters from other films appear, and it has a touch of irony and self-awareness of cinema. Because, as it is said in the film itself: we still don’t know if cinema imitates life or life imitates cinema.»
The new film, which can be viewed on the Filmin platform, where two of the director’s previous films, «Violet and the Gray Days» and «Family Folia,» mentioned earlier, tells the story of an adult who grapples with their place in the world while confronting their inner struggles.
