The Metro de Granada, affiliated with the Ministry of Development, Territorial Articulation, and Housing, will expand its seating capacity by 50% this year during the Corpus Fair compared to the previous year, thanks to the addition of new trains that will allow operations with 21 units during peak hours. The metro will provide continuous service for five days and extend its hours until 2 a.m. from Sunday to Tuesday of the Corpus Fair, also improving the frequency compared to the special services in 2024.

The Minister of Development, Territorial Articulation, and Housing, Rocío Díaz, stated that the investment effort made with the acquisition of the eight new trains is «not only helping to improve the frequency of service and the comfort inside the trains on weekdays, but it is also allowing us to enhance special services like those during the Corpus Fair, which are the most popular among users throughout the year.»

The special services for the Corpus Fair include continuous service on Saturday, June 14 (24 hours), in addition to Wednesday, June 18, Thursday, June 19, Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, where the service will run continuously for 24 hours until the end of the Corpus Fair on Sunday at 11:00 p.m..

During these five days of uninterrupted service on the Metro de Granada, it is planned to operate with 18 units. Of these, three will be double compositions, so there will be 21 trains in circulation, resulting in a 50% increase in seating capacity compared to the 2024 Corpus Fair (the increase will be 62% during the five days of continuous service). During peak hours, the frequency of service will be six and a half minutes, compared to the eight and a half minutes in 2024, before the introduction of the new train fleet.

During the weekend before the Corpus Fair, the Metro de Granada will operate continuously from this Saturday, June 14, until the end of service at 2 a.m. on Sunday, when the last trains will depart from the terminals. This amounts to 44 hours of uninterrupted service with extended hours on Sunday, as service normally ends at 11:00 p.m. Compared to the previous year, overall frequencies will be improved, especially between 5:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., with trains running every six and a half minutes on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Monday, June 16, and Tuesday, June 17, the Metro de Granada, managed by the Public Works Agency, will improve train intervals in the early morning, at noon, and in the afternoon until 8:30 p.m., with an extension of service by three hours each day (until 2:00 a.m.), as on weekdays the Metro de Granada normally ends service at 11:00 p.m.

The Metro de Granada will also maintain continuous service from Wednesday, June 18, until Sunday, June 22, until 11:00 p.m., with 115 and a half hours of uninterrupted service, including the Corpus Fair holiday on Thursday, June 19. The train intervals at stops and stations will be reinforced, with trains running every six and a half minutes in the morning (7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) and from 1:30 p.m., adjusting the intervals if there is lower user traffic. The experience from last year’s Corpus Fair has helped the Metro de Granada to determine the time slots where train reinforcement is most needed, increasing the frequency.

The Ministry of Development, Territorial Articulation, and Housing aims to promote the use of public transport and ensure, as in previous years, that the Metro de Granada is a key transport option during the Corpus Fair, providing convenient and fast access to the fairground through the Jaén and Estación de Autobuses stops, where surveillance, information, and security measures for users will also be enhanced.

The Metro de Granada service has been planned in the Local Civil Protection Board, which has approved the Fair Plan for the 2025 Corpus Fair. This body, which coordinates all institutions related to security during the festivities, envisages the installation of barriers at the Jaén and Estación de Autobuses stops to improve pedestrian access to the fairground.
