UGT Public Services (UGT SP) in Córdoba criticized the «weak» budget that the council will allocate to public education this year.
In a statement, it emphasized that in the 2025 community budget document «The word ‘public’ is not mentioned at any point, which offers indications about the education model that the PP government wants, where too much public-private collaboration prevails.»
The Provincial General Secretary of the teaching sector at UGT SP Córdoba, Juan Carlos Varo, warned about the «decrease in budget growth this year, with 71 new training and specialization cycles, which implies a need for personnel, facilities, and furniture, in addition to the fact that it is the board that has taken on its Social Security obligations in company internships, something barely assumed in the 2025 budget.
Varo emphasized that «increases in infant education and secondary and vocational training programs are significant for the subsidized education, highlighting the largest increase in subsidized baccalaureate by 13%, while the only decrease is in subsidized special education, something proposed by eliminating units in public education.
One of the most important issues for UGT SP regarding education in Andalusia focuses on considering the «employment education offer,» which does not reach 120% of the replacement rate as allowed by budgets, while the 2025 OneP corresponding to 100% of 2024 The replacement rate is derived from retirement, leave, and other outcomes of the Andalusian teaching staff system.»
He added that «this rate would increase the number of teachers in Andalusia, improving the educational offer in different teachings, such as official language schools, reducing the report in general education, teacher training, as well as the reduction of scheduled school requests from UGT.»
