UGT Córdoba: Balance of Elections
UGT Córdoba presented the balance of the elections in the Union on Wednesday, organized last year in the province of Córdoba. For the eleventh consecutive year, UGT Córdoba has maintained its position as «the most representative union in the province, increasing the distance with the second union in 97 delegates,» securing a total of 39% of the representation.
Results and Achievements
According to a statement by UGT, the Secretary General of the Union in the Province, Vicente Palomares, highlighted that in 2024, a total of 267 electoral processes were organized, resulting in the election of 867 representatives, of which 331 belong to UGT.
Palomares emphasized that these results are a testament to the hard work carried out by the union, particularly in negotiating agreements that have led to significant advancements. The success in the union elections reflects the dedication and effort put in by UGT.
Representation in Various Sectors
UGT Córdoba’s Secretary of Organization, Encarna Laguna, noted the high level of representation that the union holds in small and medium-sized enterprises, especially those with fewer than 50 employees. This representation, amounting to 60% of the workforce in such establishments, is crucial for advocating for workers’ rights.
Laguna further detailed UGT’s dominance in sectors such as construction, Siderometalurgia, automotive, energy, water, and cleaning. In areas like private security, agriculture, transportation, railway, and commerce, UGT has also achieved significant representation.
Role in the Public Sector
In the public sector, UGT Córdoba continues to play a pivotal role, holding a representative share of 31.44%. This percentage surpasses that of the second union, which stands at 28%, particularly in key sectors like education and healthcare.
UGT’s success in the elections underscores its commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of workers across various industries, solidifying its position as a leading union in the province of Córdoba.
